FAQs – Flying Match Day Shuttle Flights to from DWC to Qatar


  1. What are Match Day Shuttle flights?

Match Day Shuttle flights are return flights that will be operated by select airlines from Dubai World Central (DWC) to Doha during the upcoming football event in Qatar, from 20 November 2022 to 19 December 2022.


  1. From when will the shuttle service be in operation?

The shuttle service will run for the duration of the football event, from November 20 until December 19.


  1. What are the requirements to book the shuttle day flight? 

To book a return Match Day Shuttle flight you must have a ticket to the football game(s) as well as the Hayya Card to enter Qatar. You will not be able to board the Match Day Shuttle flight without the Hayya card.

  1. Which airlines will be operating the shuttle service?

Shuttle service flights will be operated by flydubai and Qatar Airways


  1. How often will the shuttle service be operating?

There will be up to 120 shuttle service flight movements per day, including departures and arrivals.


  1. How do I know which airport I am flying from?

All Match Day Shuttle Flights will be operating from DWC. Your airline will inform you when you purchase your ticket. The information on the airport and terminal to/from which you are travelling will also be included on your ticket. 


  1. Can I transfer to DWC for the Match Day Shuttle flight after arriving at Dubai International (DXB)? Do I need a visa to enter Dubai?

Please check your visa eligibility with your airline and ensure enough connecting time to commute from Dubai International to Dubai World Central. There will not be any complimentary surface transport facility provided between the two airports. 


You may also check with the UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security, who have recently announced the opening of multiple entry tourist visas for ‘Hayya’ cardholders attending football tournament, starting from November 1. (Source)


  1. Can I drive to DWC and park my car?

Yes, you can. Parking will be free of charge at the DWC passenger terminal car park.


  1. Will there be a bus service to DWC?

Yes. The Dubai Road & Transport Authority (RTA) will be providing a dedicated bus route for the duration of the football tournament operating 24/7 at 30-minute intervals from DWC to Ibn Battuta and Expo City Metro Stations.


  1. Will taxis be running as normal to and from DWC?

Yes. RTA Taxis will be available as usual. You can get 10% discount on all Careem trips to DWC, maximum of AED15 per trip, and a maximum of 4 trips per passenger per month. 

  1. Are taxis offering a special rate for DWC during the world cup period?

Yes, Careem is offering 10% discount for trips to DWC, maximum of AED15 per trip and maximum of 4 trips per passenger per month.


  1. Should I check-in online before arriving at the airport?

Please check with your airline, as online check-in could be mandatory for Match Day Shuttle Flights. 


  1. What is my baggage allowance for shuttle service flights?

Checked-in baggage will not be allowed on Match Day Shuttle Flights, except for strollers and wheelchairs. Passengers will, however, be permitted to carry hand luggage (confirm allowance as per class of travel with your airline). A paid baggage storage facility will be available at Dubai World Central (DWC).


  1. Will there be amenities open at DWC when I fly?

Yes. The airport’s range of passenger service facilities, including restaurants, cafes, retail outlets and duty free will be fully operational. 


  1. What are the regulations for COVID19 for the Match Day Shuttle Flights?
  2. For the latest information please check the portals of Qatar 2022 or Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health.
  3. Are there ATMs at DWC?

ATMs are currently not operational at DWC. Customers can use over the counter cash withdrawal option across Travelex locations at the terminal.

Travel restrictions related to Covid-19 have eased significantly, however there are still some important points travellers must be aware of while travelling through, from or to DXB. 

Mask-wearing is optional for passengers at DXB and Dubai World Central (DWC). Based on their specific requirements or the rules applicable at intermediate or final destinations, airlines can, however, request passengers to wear the face mask on board if deemed necessary.

All travellers to Dubai are no longer required to present a COVID‑19 vaccination certificate or perform PCR tests. Passengers travelling from or through Dubai are only required to comply with the transit requirements and travel requirements for their final destination.
Before travel, all guests are advised to check with their airline for specific details relevant to their destination as requirements may change at short notice.
